Master of the earth, shaping tradition one rotation at a time.
Jovan was born into a house where clay was more common than toys. His grandfather opened the family workshop in Veles in 1952, and the wheel has not stopped turning since.
After studying applied arts in Skopje he returned home, intent on joining what he had learned with what he had known since childhood. He still works with his grandfather's tools, but with a sense of form that speaks to contemporary homes.
„The clay dictates the form. I merely guide it.“
He digs his clay locally, from deposits that give Veles ceramics their characteristic warm tone. His signature glaze — deep terracotta with ash inclusions — demands precise firing in a traditional wood kiln.
That process guarantees no two pieces are ever quite alike. It is exactly in this irregularity that Jovan finds the value: every vessel carries the memory of the fire that made it.
